@KiteVC yep, def easier returning 3-5X on 100x $50-500K checks than 100x $5-50M checks. (also requires scaling up/out # investing partners, altho in near future maybe can also do w/ AI)

@zebulgar @zebulgar i’m not aware of all the details, but wasn’t the core issue around Benchmark / other investors desire to sell (some) secondary in Uber? (and also, that Travis didn’t want to allow that) not taking sides, just trying to understand motivations / incentives.

how to re-align VC GPs & LPs: 1) cut mgmt fees in half (1%/yr, or 2% for only 5 yrs), esp for larger funds 2) increase carry to 25-30% after 2-3X net and/or 15-20% IRR (on realized DPI), esp for smaller funds don’t let GPs earn mgmt fees for just sitting on their ass for 10-12

@EghosaO @jasonlk yep, also depends on revenue... obv you'd prefer a co wotj 50% YoY that's doing $100-200M ARR rather than $10-20M. growth will be harder to sustain as co gets bigger, and assumption is it will decay. public markets value Saas @ 6-8x, and even hi-growth @ just 10-12x.
